The Chatham Islands was presented with the opportunity to employ a tourism coordinator through Government funding. Gurden Consulting Ltd was commissioned to work with the tourism operators on the Island, prepare a Tourism Strategic Plan and the application for funding the position.
This was undertaken in conjunction with the Enterprising Communities Fund within the Ministry of Social Development. Unfortunately the government halted the fund as the application was lodged.
